Medora Covered Bridge
This is one of the several covered bridges I have photographed in Indiana.
The Medora Covered Bridge was the longest covered bridge in the United States with the entire original historic truss' still in place, with some repairs, but no structural changes.
Measuring the clear span of 431 feet and 10 inches, Medora Covered Bridge is the longest historic covered bridge in the United States.
The Medora Covered Bridge was built in 1875 by J. J. Daniels.
It took nine months to build and cost $18,000.
It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 19, 2007.
When the bridge was restored in 2009, more than 80% of its original materials were saved, including the original truss.
