LTHS Art Exhibition

April 2-26, 2026

"With every show, I hope that visitors are able to see and appreciate all of the hard work and dedication of our students. This show is a culmination of months of practice, revision, and creative experimentation in order to see the works that are on display in the gallery! I hope that the student's efforts throughout the school year are evident and that viewers can see the many hours of work put into the pieces and the dedication to their craft! This show is an amazing opportunity to highlight the talents of our students to the community and I hope everyone leaves with a better appreciation for what we do here at LTHS!" - LTHS Visual Arts Teacher and Art Club Sponsor Holly Cook.

If you didn't see this exhibition or you'd like to see it again, we hope you enjoy the pictures.

Kristin Murphy:
Discovering the Way

March 5 - 29, 2026

“Discovering the Way is not about arriving – it’s about honoring the path that shaped me.”
This collection brings together years of exploration — watercolor, soft pastel, acrylic, and mixed media — each piece marking a season of growth. As I gathered the work, I realized this show isn’t about a destination. It’s about the journey. The shifts. The mentors. The quiet persistence. The becoming. I’m deeply grateful to the teachers and mentors who guided me along the way — their influence lives inside this work.

Christina Cooley:
Somewhere Between

September 4 - 28, 2025

Somewhere Between explores the emotional spaces that emerge between clarity and uncertainty, memory and sensation, solitude and movement. Across a vibrant collection of abstract and semi-figurative paintings, Christina Cooley creates a visual language that balances intuition with intention, fluidity with structure. These works range from expansive, dreamlike fields to intimate visual reflections—each navigating a space where something is forming, unraveling, or being remembered. Bold gestural strokes share the wall with quiet atmospheres, while human figures, organic shapes, and geometric echoes float in and out of focus. The exhibition resists resolution, inviting viewers instead to move slowly, to feel deeply, and to rest in the beauty of what remains undefined. Whether evoking weathered memory, interior states, or natural rhythms, Somewhere Between offers a meditation on the moments we occupy when we are in transition—no longer what we were, not yet what we will be. Somewhere Between will be shown on the Featured Artist wall on the second floor at Gallery Seven in the historic Gaylord Building from September 4th - 28th.

Dina Walker:
Foliage

July 31 - August 31, 2025

Dina Walker’s “Foliage” ran from July 31 - August 31 on the Featured Artist wall. According to Dina: "these pieces were inspired by nature in urban settings--the way leaves fall in random patterns and stain the sidewalk over time. I wanted to capture the complexity of the layers of leaves as well as the simplicity of a single leaf and the way light shines through and on top of the sidewalk. I enjoy exploring the colors and shapes found in nature, especially the contrast of foliage with man-made elements. Living in both Chicago and Los Angeles, I am looking for ways to ground myself in each city – to find commonalities and celebrate the differences. These mixed media pieces are created on cradle board using house paint, acrylic paint, newsprint, and tissue paper. The process involves multiple layers, cutting, scrubbing and sanding." The opening reception was August 3, 2025.

Jay Reed:
Scapes / Land / Urban

July 31 - August 31, 2025

Jay Reed’s “Scapes / Land / Urban” was a collection of collage, mixed media, paintings and sculptures. The exhibition ran from July 31-August 31 on the third floor Founders Gallery with the opening reception on Sunday, August 3rd from 1-3PM.

Mary Ann Trzyna:
Sunlight in the Trees

July 3 - 27, 2025

The exhibition “Sunlight in the Trees” presents the latest works of Mary Ann Trzyna, an artist whose paintings gracefully merge landscapes and still lifes. Inspired deeply by her surroundings—particularly the serene presence of trees—Mary Ann’s art serves as an affectionate homage to her continuous explorations within nature. Each piece captures the gentle rustling of leaves, the golden glow of filtered sunlight, and the faint fragrances carried by the wind, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in a rich, sensory experience of the outdoors. This beautiful exhibit runs until July 27 in the second floor gallery on the Featured Artist Wall.
